What Is Nutritional Consulting?
Utilizing holistic nutritional principles, a Registered Orthomolecular Health Practitioner (ROHP) uses each individual’s unique health and lifestyle information to devise a nutritional plan to optimize health, lose weight, or achieve whatever that individual’s personal health goals may be. Nutritional education is an often overlooked aspect of health and fitness, and can make a tremendous impact on one’s feeling of well-being.
What Is an ROHP (Registered Orthomolecular Health Practitioner)?
A Registered Orthomolecular Health Practitioner is a therapist who has completed a set course of study in health and nutrition from an accredited school, and is registered with the IONC (International Organization of Nutritional Consultants).
The designation RNCP/ROHP is governed by the IONC. The program of study includes anatomy, physiology, chemistry, biochemistry, digestion and elimination, as well as various aspects of nutrition. They specialize in maintaining or restoring biochemistry and physiology in the body for optimum health and well-being.
What Happens During the First Visit?
During the initial consult, the ROHP will review the health history, and discuss concerns and the reason for the visit. In addition, some special tests (including saliva PH levels or body measurements for example) may be performed. The Nutrition Practitioner will then discuss a time frame for review of the devised plan, further follow up visits and/or any homecare needed.
