How Does Virtual Physiotherapy Work?
Our Physiotherapists take a “whole-person approach” to understanding each client. Upon booking, a detailed intake form is sent to be filled online. Prior to your appointment you will be notified by email with a link and it is as easy as a click of a button. We use a fully encrypted platform that follows guidelines set out by the Canadian Physiotherapy Association to insure privacy of the online session. It is recommended clients find a quiet well-lit room to allow the therapist to assess movement if needed
A good internet provider with updated Chrome or Opera web browser is recommended. Your face to face appointment with your therapist will allow them to answer your questions and create a customized treatment program. Depending on the assessment, follow up appointments may be booked for continuing care.
Education about a prescribed a program will sometimes be better understood using questionnaires throughout your sessions. Physiotherapists want people to move! Studies have shown in clinic or virtual physiotherapy can help clients move better when clients understand if it is fear vs harm that may be impeding their movements.
Is Virtual Physiotherapy Covered By Extended Health Care Plans?
Sessions are tax-free and covered by most extended health care benefits. Following your appointment, you will be sent an invoice and payments can be made by credit card over the phone. The staff at Healthy Balance will direct bill where applicable. However, it is recommended clients check their individual coverage through their insurance provider prior to the virtual appointment.
At any point we can transfer to in-person care when appropriate. We understand while in most cases virtual physiotherapy can help there are some cases when in-clinic may be required.
